Greetings from Philly and DC!

Hi there!

Hugo and I arrived in Philly yesterday together with Lain and Dan. Hugo knows another French guy who studies at Temple here in Philly and we can stay at his house for free...

Over the weekend we stayed at Lain's house (one of my roommates from Bloom). Lain offered to drive us to Philly if he could stay here for the night. He brought a friend too, Dan and the four of us went out clubbing last night. It was pretty cool! At first we got a Philly cheese steak at a place called Geno's which is really famous cheese steak spot here in Philly. Right across the street from Geno's lies their arch enemy, Pat's. Pretty much you're either a Geno's man or a Pat's man! We had to find out what we were so we had another cheese steak at Pat's right after Geno's :) Geno's won! After that we went to Old City which is where all the bars are. Because it was Monday there were no covers at all so we tried a few different bars until we came across one called Mad River. Some nursing graduates from Temple University, was having their graduation party there and they told us that we should just tell the bartender that we were nursing graduates too because then we could get in on a fantastic deal - pay 15$ and you get to drink as many beers and drinks as you want. We were at the bar paying those 15$ before one could even say "Hmm.... let me think about it for a sec"

This is a picture of Lain, Dan and me..

Washington DC
Today we had planned to get up at 8am to go to DC by train. Those plans changed! We got up at 10 because we had partied a bit too much last night... Also, we knew that round trip tickets by train would be 130$ - but then someone told us that we could take the "Chinese Bus" to DC and back for 28$ total! So we figured we might as well do that. Lain and Dan drove us to China Town to catch the bus before they left for home. The bus ride itself was quite an experience but I'm glad we did it because we saved a lot of money.

We arrived in DC around 3pm and we had to catch the bus back to Philly by 8pm. We got something to eat and walked to the White House.

After that we we met up with Paivi and Natalie (her roommate from Bloom) at the Lincoln Memorial. They were in DC too by coincidence.

After Lincoln we went to the Korean War Memorial

And then the Vietnam War Memorial

Then Paivi and Natalie had to leave so Hugo decided to go see the Capitol. On the way we passed by the Washington Monument

And here is the Capitol

So, we got to see a lot during the five hours we spent in DC. The weather wasn't that good but it was still a great experience. We also got to see Obama's convoy of cars! He came by in his Cadillac limo while we were at the Vietnam Memorial.

Our plan plan for the future is that we fly to San Diego on Thursday morning at 6.30am. Again, Hugo is well connected and we have a place to stay there for free as long as we want... So I can't wait to go to California for a few weeks :D

Other than that I guess this is it for now.

Take care,
Rasmus
